Well, I'm not going to Skagway this summer. At least not to work for the Skagway News. They picked someone else.

So! I must acquire some other means of turning articles into money. Details shall follow when there are details to share.

Moving on

03.03.07 (1:11 pm)   [edit]

I think I'm in that part of life where I have to start transitioning from the collegiate world to the working world. It's time to start being an "adult," time to contemplate the idea of having a "career." Time to set some goals and push myself.

Now, I still have four months until I leave the comforts of homework and reading assignments, but the real world requires a reservation. This means applying for internships. I don't want to get a full-time job yet because I'd like to travel a bit this upcoming fall. (We'll see how much money I make over the summer.)

Applying for any job is a flood of mixed emotions. In my industry, employers want to see clips of your previous work and they want to see your BEST clips. That means I have to sift through my previous work and pick out what THEY think is best. And it has to be better than every other person's "best." So I'm stuck in this paradox of being proud and confident in my work and constantly critquing it to filter out the best.

I have several prospects for paid summer internships, but I'm not going to give any hints. I'll let you know WHEN (not if) someone hires me.
