Canada, eh?

04.28.06 (2:10 pm)   [edit]

That's right, I'm going to that Great Looming Threat to the North for the weekend. The DIRT A team got a spot in the regional competition in Vancouver (by getting 2nd place at Sectionals two weeks ago in Burlington). Naturally, most of the guys on the B team want to go watch? (What could be better than watching great ultimate in Canada? Maybe watching great curling...NOT.) The weather is supposed to be fair, and since I'm not playing I'll have time to take some great pictures. I promise I'll post some that will make you say to yourself "I wish I could do that."

In other news, I'm still looking for a place to live over the summer...and for next year. All I know is that I don't want to be in university residences and that it would be nice if rent was under $300/month. I've looked at a few places, but I wasn't terribly impressed. The more I think about it the more I get excited for summertime.

Here's a few things I like about summertime: wearing sandals, drinking lemonade/iced tea/ginger ale, not wearing a shirt, riding my bike, playing Ultimate (it's just meant for summer), the early sunrise and the late sunset, sleeping in the yard, dogs, barbequeing, sunglasses, swimming, and outdoor concerts.

Ahhh, now don't you feel better? Me too. Now quit staring at this computer screen and go outside!

Update

04.18.06 (10:52 am)   [edit]

Ok, so it's been awhile. I got tired of posting and I was just plain tired. This quarter has been pretty busy so far...and it's only week 4. But enough of my complaining. Here's the good stuff you all want to know:

I had another weekend of Utimate in Burlington, this time it was for Sectionals (the start of the UPA college tournament). My team didn't win any games, but I think I played the best I have all year. And all that matters is that I was playing Ultimate. "A bad day of Ultimate beats a good day at school." It's kind of like that phrase "a bad day skiing on the mountain beats a good day anywhere else." Just don't ask me if a good day of Ultimate beats a bad day of skiing because frankly, I just don't know. Perhaps if I could play Ultimate on the mountain....

This just in: I have officially decided on my summer plans. And it doesn't included Camp. It also doens't involve working in Alaska. And it certainly does not have anything to do translating the Book of Judas, although I am interested to see what comes out of that. The Official Summer Plan is even weirder than that....and it looks like this:
1) take summer classes
2) get a job on the Western Front (campus newspaper)
3) play as much Summer League Ultimate as humanly possible
4) turn 21 on July 13th
5) not wear socks, unless I'm playing Ultimate

Summer Classes? What am I thinking? I don't know, but it just feels right. I'm actually excited to stay in Bellingham over the summer; this is my kind of town and I hear it's a fun place to be when 10,000 college students leave. And I hear that there is especially nice weather for ULTIMATE! (Am I a bit obsessed with Ultimate? Yes. Actually......yes.)

For those of you who will be returning to the far corner of the galaxy and wish to do something crazy this summer, do not fret. I will still be available for all your crazy adventure needs. Summer session is short (~6/7 weeks) and I will always have the weekends.

Ike -- "I can't believe I'm actually going to take summer classes. It feels like I'm in trouble or something."

I'm not in Kansas anymore Toto

04.05.06 (5:00 pm)   [edit]

If you didn't know already, I moved into Birnam Wood University Residences for Spring Quarter...and I get to live with Christian Anderson and two other tall goofy guys (Danny and Evan). Here's photo evidence that all of my junk fits into a very small space.

I have a busy week this week so I'm not going to write anymore.
