Summer Camp is DONE!
That's right, summer camp is done. Finis. Nein Mas. It's quite a relief but sad in a way because camp is something that isn't just a job. I've been working with the same 45 people for 9 weeks and now they are all going home. I will still run into a few fellow staffers up at Western, but I will never see a majority of these people again. I guess that's life.
So the last week went smooth: I tried windsurfing on the lake and did pretty well if I do say so myself; Candace and Chloe came up to see me on Wednesday night; I felt sick this week but I made it through alive and coughing; and I don't have to do the rock wall or the high ropes ever again! I will be back at camp this week for Grief Camp (a special camp for kids who have lost a loved one) but I won't be doing the Challenge courses...I get to try my hand at being a camp counselor. I've been getting bored with the rock wall and ropes course so the administration bumped me up to counselor to see how I like it.
So I've been thinking of something I could do to cap off my summer before going to B-Ham in September and the Olympic Mountains came to mind. I've lived in Washington for 11 years and still have really been to the Olympics. I think a week of exploring the youngest mountains on the West Coast would be a good way to say I accomplished something this summer (besides, of course, surviving camp again). Know any cool hikes or towns I should visit? Let me know. Want to come along? Let me know.
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign, Life is demanding without understanding...

When did August happen?
Now I feel like I've done something this summer: I took a car full of out-of-towners up Mt Pilchuck on Saturday. The German, the Californian, The North Carolinian, and even the Brit made it all the way to the top. The weather was hot, there were way too many people, we made it up qiuckly, and the view was amazing as usual. And what better way to end a sweaty hike than to jump into a cold river?
After that we decided that we wanted to eat cow flesh--good cow flesh, not hamburgers--so we went to the Outback Steakhouse. Mmmm I love steak!
And now it's monday again, but this time I feel like I actually did something worthwhile on my 24 hour T.O. (Photo evidence is on the way.)
In other news, I have to bother Edmonds CC because they haven't sent my transcripts up to Western yet. Communists! And Western won't give me a place to live until they get my transcripts and verify that I will be a student. Communists! But I'm not worried; everything will work out. Unless the Communists win...
Don't let the communists win,
