Pre-camp is done
Well, I made it through the 10 days of staff training. It's going to be a fun year; there are ten returning staff plus an international staff from Germany, England, Sweden, South Africa, and Australia. I can't wait for campers to get here though because then my job will get easier. My partner in crime (Lunchbox) and I had to teach the whole staff how to operate the Low Ropes Course and then we took them all to the climbing wall and the high ropes course. 40 staff + 5 days + lots of other stuff to do = a very tired Rocky.
On the homefront, we got a new puppy; a newfoundland/golden retriever that we named Freddie. He's like a mini wolly mammoth. My younger sister Candace is now driving the tofu-burner (Hyundai Accent) and has a license, so stay off the road until she learns how to work the clutch.
I really like the pace of summer. Especially the pace of summer at camp.

Vinyl is best
So I recently acquired a record player and I have just discovered that vinyl is so cool. Who ever thought of putting music onto a plastic dinner plate was crazy, but the ensuing trend is crazy-cool. Basically, I just love being able to find so much music that I love for so incredibly cheap--and not on a 'best of' CD.
For instance, I now own Eric Clapton, Chuck Mangione, Simon and Garfunkle, Maynard Ferguson, and the soundtrack to Dr. Zhavago. It 'feels so good' that I think I'm just 'gonna fly now' on 'wednesday morning, 3am.' (For my band geek buds: feel free to come rock out like old times, but at my house and not in the band room.)
IN other news, camp starts in 4 days and I shall once again answer to the name of Rocky. If, for some reason, you feel an immediate urge to contact me this summer, the best way would be via e-mail. I will have my cell phone with me but most likely it will only see the light of day on Saturdays. I will still try to update my blog every week, so you die-hard fans out there can still get a taste of The Daily Grind.
And just in case you want to send me a "Happy 20th Birthday" card on July 13th (hint hint wink wink) you can send it to the camp.

So close
Only three more school days left. And then CAMP! Finally, something exciting.
Actually, I had some fun Thursday night on my second date with Phoebe. We went to Jazz Alley and saw Lee Ritenour and the Friendship Band. With a name like that I was worried that it was going to be smooth Jazz or hotel lobby music, but it turned out to be fun.
So I will be sort of unreachable for the next 10 weeks. I will post a list of ways to contact me in my next post.

Unbelieveable
I went on a date Friday night. Unbelieveable. We had dinner at PF Chang's and then wandered GasWorks Park until it was too cold. Believeable view but unbelieveable company. I went with Pheobe Zemler, a girl I met on my Spring Break Trip to France. Unbelieveable.
And after I dropped Phoebe off at her dorm at SPU, I went to the Mercury club up on Capitol Hill. A friend of mine from the newspaper is a founding member of the club and got me in for free. So, I went to Goth club on a friday night in Capital Hill and had a great time. Unbelievable.
More good news: I am eligible for Federal loans through Western. Believeable.
Scott is in Hawaii right now. Unbelieveable. He'll be there for three weeks of so doing his ROTC time on a submarine. And Keith takes off for Ithica tomorrow for his summer job doing computational biology. Unbelieveable.
I'm unbelieveably happy and I hope you are too.
