Home on the RAINge

03.30.05 (7:51 am)   [edit]

Ahhh, it's good to be home in the Seattle rain. I must say, Washington rain is much nicer than French rain -- I had to walk to the train station in Cannes in the rain. Besides getting a good taste of French rain, I tried French coffee and French wine and French beer, none of which I would normally like, but I figured I should try some since I was in France.

Best moment in France: seeing the Eiffel Tower from the bus to the hotel on the first day and realizing that I was in France.

Worst moment in France: feeling incredibly sick throughout the entire first day while running all around Paris. Inconsistent meals while traveling and too little sleep.

Perhaps I'll post some pics when I get then developed. Until then, I need something to do for the rest of the week. (I'm still on Spring Break.) Oddly enough, I think I'll go snowboarding. All of the rain here has created a BUTTLOAD (official term) of snow in the mountains; Baker is on track to have 100 inches by Sunday. Kind of a backwards winter.

'Finals' week

03.15.05 (9:43 am)   [edit]
Ahhh, the last week of the quarter and I only have one final to take. I don't have to take my spanish final because I did well on all the tests; English 205 doesn't have a final but I have to show up Thrusday morning to check my final grade and whatnot; and that leaves me with a just a 7am Chem final tomorrow morning. (Oy!)

I can't imagine what this week would be like if I actually had numerous finals to study for because I have a BUTTLOAD (yes, buttload is word) of stuff to do before I fly out on Friday. I'd like to get my Western application out of the way since that is due April 1st. I need to pay for next quarter, which involves clearing my credit card (again) of the $1140 plane tickets. I need to make sure my scholarship gets credited to me BEFORE I pay for classes. (I love dealing with the financial aid office.....really.) Oh yeah, and I need to pack sometime before 11am on Friday. But that can wait until Friday around 9am :^P

Speaking of Western: I love that town (Bellingham). I spent the weekend up there visiting Blair -- newspaper friend -- and walking around campus. Then I went the NCAA II basketball game and watched some great college ball. Too bad the WWU Vikings looked like the LSHS Vikings in the first half. Then I crashed over at Curlz's apartment, woke up and went the Bagelry (pretty much the best bagels in the entire world).

Sure, what's one more long night at Haggen's?

FAT BLOG 3

03.10.05 (10:06 am)   [edit]
By the way, Scott Miller (goofy, tall, extremely white, military man, Scott Miller) took the photo of Mt St Helens on the front page of the Wed, March 9 Seattle Times. And he's getting paid for it. Lucky dog.

Go check out the photo and read his quotes in the story at www.seattletimes.com

FAT BLOG 2

TRick question: If you are leaving on the 18th for a 10-day trip to France, for what day do you buy your return ticket?

Short story, I guessed wrong and now I'm stuck in Nice -- by myself -- for an extra day. Oh well, besides feeling inadequate in my math skills, I don't think I'll mind spending Easter on the French Riviera.

Know of any good hostels?

Adding that picture of Stevens Pass made my blog fat. So I'm going to add a couple random posts to move it off the page.

Rampant Sleep Deprivation!

03.08.05 (4:47 pm)   [edit]

Watch out! Sleep Deprivation is running rampant! It eats test scores! It smashes all comprehesion! It even made me forget when exactly the rest of the Spring Break group is flying out from Nice. That's right: they're all flying out on the 27th and someone just pointed out that I bought tickets for the 28th.

Don't I feel dense. Oh well, I'll have myself a little adventure. What's another day stuck in the French Riviera? Let's just hope I do better on my Chem final than I did on buying plane tickets.

For those of you in B-ham, I'm planning on coming up on Saturday. I'm making good on a promise that I would come up and visit people. If I have your number I'll give you a call.

Now we can swim any day in November,

Federal relief

03.04.05 (3:01 pm)   [edit]

So can I get some of that federal relief money too? I'm really tired and I could use some relief. I had a bit of relief today, but that's because today is Friday, and Friday = relief. I also handed in my big Eng 205 research paper this morning which was a big load off of my chest. I've read that thing so many times in the past 2 weeks that I pretty much have it memorized, which is sickening to think of.

Speaking of relief, "I'm gonna make it to France" has turned into my mantra lately. I got a call from our group leader and he told me that EF tours (the touring agency we're going through) doesn't have plane tickets for me. Great. And we leave in two weeks exactly. My refund check won't be mailed until Tuesday, so I'm scrambling to plan my own itinerary and purchase tickets by tomorrow. The good thing is that it looks like it will be cheaper to buy my own tickets. Stupid EF tours. BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT! All they've given me is non-relief. I want relief. That's why I'm going to France.

In other non-relief news, Stevens is still open, despite have a very pathetic base of 32 inches of "snow." (I don't call it snow anymore becasue it's not white and fluffy anymore. It's all brown and mooshy.) So I will teaching slushboarding this weekend. And then on Sunday, Scott and his roomy will be arriving via train and we're going to cruise Puget Sound in a Subaru and drink coffee like good Seattlites. And wear socks with our sandals.

I'm gonna make it France one way or another,
Isaac
