SPRING BREAK!
Well, the jury has decided that my punishment for having such a busy quarter is to take a 10 day trip to FRANCE for Spring Break! I just got final confirmation yesterday and I sent in my passport application today. (Feeshi: I got my pic taken at Costco for $5 and then dropped it off at the Everett Post Office.)
So here's the itinerary: fly in to Paris and spend 3 days there (and hopefully visit Chippie), spend the next 2 days traveling by bus down through the Loire Valley and visiting small cities, spend one day in Avignon and the next day in Provence, then the last 3 days in the French Riviera (Nimes, Monaco, and we fly out of Nice). I take off on the March 18 and get back on the 28th or 29th.
So for all of you that I have kept waiting in suspense, you can be jealous now. :^P
In other news, I'm going to try posting a picture of how depressing Stevens Pass is right now.

Three weeks and counting. And to those of you coming back this way for Spring Break, feel free to call whenever and we'll go do something WILD and CRAZY!

Caution: Men Working
I'm sorry I ever doubted Mother Nature. The snow up at Stevens was absolutely wonderful last weekend. There wasn't any powder left but at least there was a nice, fast, corduroy (sp?) groom. (The kind that you can hear and feel when you carve.) And it is staying cold enough that the snow isn't going to melt as fast as I thought it would. Stevens already has a Big Air competition planned for this Saturday, so it looks like I'll get at least one more weekend of mountain bliss.
Just to build the suspense about my Spring Break plans: I have to go get a passport picture taken today and send in my passport application by the end of the week. The form says that normal application proceedure takes 4-6 weeks (time that I don't want to risk; Spring Break is in 4 weeks) but they offer a speed processing that only takes 3 days and costs an extra $60. Oh well, I don't care about the money anymore. I just want to GO!

Work Weekend
But on the other hand, I GET TO GO SNOWBOARDING! Eventhough I just put all of my gear away, going to the mountains every weekend is refreshing and worth the trip. That's how I stay sane. (I drive back and forth to school everyday in traffic: I need something to keep me from road rage.)
Snowboarding (and skiing, I'm not a hater) is so relaxing.

P.S. I just sent in my application and money for my Spring Break trip...
ah-blah blah blah
In other news, I had a random thing happen today in Spanish. We were asking people questions (in spanish of course) like "When was the last time you _____________?" and my partner James jokingly asked me how long it has been since I've been on a date. It's been two years since I've been on an actual "date" (like a "pick-you-up-at-7" date). This doesn't bother me -- you're only single for a few years so you might as well enjoy the freedom (and save some money :^) -- but it would be fun to find a date for Valentine's Day. I'm just talking out of my butt right now though, so don't call me.
So how long has it been since you've been on a date?

Disneyland in Ikeland
I rode the emotional roller coaster this week. Must be the sleep deprivation getting to me.
Monday: This is the day we send pages to the printer. It was crazy, hectic. I was hoping to send by 4, we sent at 5pm. I was a bit stressed, I felt like giving up, I felt let down by my staff. I had the feeling that no one cares but me. Gave up on the idea of finishing a rough draft for my English paper proposal to sleep an extra 2 hours.
Tuesday: Didn't have my rough draft of my paper proposal for class. Oh well. Later, got a call from the printer: all the ads on page 6-7 went kaput. I fixed it and sent it back, but it was too late to print today. Relief. I don't have to wait around for the paper to arrive at 5pm and distribute by myself. Got some research done for my paper.
Wednesday: Got a call informing me that the new layout editor we "hired" can't work for us because his international status is messed up and he's on academic probation. Tried calling him, still no response. The newspaper came: best front page and back page we've had yet. Inside pages (except mine...not to brag) looked horrible. Felt disappointed. Time to re-evaluate the commitment of my staff. Stayed up late finishing my annotated bibliography for my English class. Gave up around 9 pm, wallowed in self pity until 9:30, looked up the last day to drop this class, got inspired by my Rocky Poster that Chloe bought me for Christmas. Finished it at midnight. Felt more level-headed.
Thursday: Discovered the joys of a cup of Earl Grey in the morning. I actually came to class prepared, my teacher gave away a Bushisms desk calendar that no one else but me wanted, and I discoverd what I am going to do for Spring Break (more details later). All before 8:30! Had a productive day at the paper, and generally felt happy. Could be the caffeine. Got home and offered to drive Chloe to ballet (which is all the way back near the Edmonds campus) but my mom treated me to dinner and I found some Prana climbing pants at Value Village for $6. I never thought I could be that happy after logging over 100 miles of driving in 12 hours. (The joy of community college.)
Friday: I decided to dress up a bit for friday which was fun, I felt shnazzy. Made some phone calls about my Spring Break plans, got even more stuff done in the office, and felt more confident about actually finishing my english class.
What a happy ending. I like happy endings, so I'll end this post on a happy note: I get to sleep as long as I want tonight.
Cruisin' for a snoozin'
